Becoming Yoginanna

I began my yoga journey when I was pregnant with my third child with a truly inspirational teacher. The ‘Asanas’, postures, alongside the breath control, really helped me to focus on my unborn baby and myself during my pregnancy. I was hooked!

Over the next few years I continued to practice, always looking forward to a Monday evening and Wednesday morning when I could have some ‘me’ time, tune in to my body and my mind and give myself the time to relax as well as reenergise myself.

As my family grew I decided to retrain as an infant school teacher, so my practice took a back seat, especially whilst working and bringing up a family. Eventually I began to find the time to rekindle my love of yoga and Ive never looked back.

A few years later and a move to Kent, the children had flown the nest, so I made the decision to leave teaching and pursue a career as a yoga teacher.

I began my teacher training in September 2018 and completed a 200 hour certificate with the Independent Yoga network in July 2019 at the ripe old age of 59.

And I love it…. I also had my first Grandchild during this time, hence the name ‘Yoginanna’

I have learnt so much over the few years and continue to learn……

’When one teaches two learn’ this is so true and is what makes the whole journey so exciting.

My teaching approach appreciates that everyone is different so it follows that everyone’s needs are also different. I teach to the individual student’s needs using modifications where necessary. Yoga isn’t just about making shapes with your body, I am passionate about the foundations of a posture to ensure correct alignment to enable the student to develop body awareness, improving flexibility, stamina, better posture, along with many other benefits.
